The above scenario is pretty straightforward except for the outcome. The US is currently putting the most pressure ever used to come to the peace table. It is during this event when the worldly powers will exclaim Peace and Security! Such a claim, when all can plainly see that there is no real worldwide peace to be found, will trigger an extraterrestrial intervention so violent and devastating that it will find no other equal in mans history.

How can you say that the founding fathers of this country never had GOD far from their hearts? I suppose you are also going to parrot the same old: "The founding fathers intended this to be a Christian nation" rhetoric which the Jerry Fawell/Pat Robertson crowd has sung in unanimous refrain for decades. If that were the case, tell me what is so Christian or pleasing to God about the Ethnic Cleansing of the Native Population of this land during the colonial days or even slavery where human beings were sold like livestock during this country's inception? How about burning women at the stake during the Salem witch hunts where ordinary (sometimes old) women were executed on no more than a random accusation of witchcraft? Not to mention that the actions of our forefathers never suggested that they had a heart for anything other than personal gain, God was not even part of the equation except when convenient or to be used as a tool to foster public opinion in a public light. Why does such a wonderful and "free" country allow stockholders and NOT physicians determine what type of medical care you can receive and WHY does such a "Free" and "Wonderful" country incarcerate more people than any other place in the world? These are the tactics of a lie, if the forefathers hearts were really close to God, they would have developed a theocracy and put mention of "God" somewhere in the Constitution. This is emphatically NOT a Christian country despite what a very vocal minority would have us believe. Despite all of that, it may not be the WORST place to be by any stretch of the imagination however, the society is falling into decline in every capacity from education, social interaction of community, physical and mental health, ect. Where is 'God" in all of this? Can't even make mention of him at work, school, or in the pledge of allegiance. This country then and now, was built by a select few who were inherently greedy and sociopathic. The way that ordinary middle class people are being fleeced more and more everyday should be evidence enough. Our politicians never cared about "we the people" and 239 years later, we are back where we started: Taxation without representation and an elitist psuedo-monarchy of career politicians who make their wealth at the expense of the citizens of this great country. Enough is enough, when Russian immigrants tell me that they're returning home because the US has become too oppressive, that aughta say something about the true state of this nation despite what the mainstream media will have us believe.

I agree with your article in principle but I don't think the Muslims are the problem or the instigators. This is the true problem:

There's no where to run and hide anymore, as you can see from the economic meltdown of 2008. Your best bet is to stand fast where ever you are, and start thinking about survival off grid. That means shelter, food, and water. One company can sink the entire global economy in 24 hours. Are you prepared?

I agree with Michelle. I find this article extremely racist and also very inaccurate. A "secret nuclear facility" was not discovered in Iran. Iran told the IAEA about the facility. Soon afterward the news was distorted and the media reported that the US "discovered a secret" facility.

You ask "has logic and civility abandoned the public dialogue" and then proceed to write a piece that is extremely illogical and uncivil. This kind of fear mongering and paranoia is what is destroying America. What we need is rational discussions and debates. Muslims praying in public does not equate to terror. Most do not want a theocracy or to conquer the US for Allah, but to simply live a quiet, productive life. I would argue that many fundamental Christians in the US want a theocracy and have been very successful thus far.

What we need is to take our country back -- not from the Muslims, but from the neocons who are waging illegal, unethical wars and destroying the lives of hundreds of thousands abroad and at home. We need to better monitor Wall Street and find a way to revitalize the economy. We need to banish the USA Patriot Act and to get back to the basics of the Constitution.

Instead of fear mongering opinion writers, we need wise editors and journalists who pursue facts rather than spread malicious fiction that insights fear and reduces knowledge.

Let's be honest, if the US continues on this path, there will be fewer and fewer places that American citizens are welcome with open arms. The global population has been generous in separating Americans from the actions of our government. But it is getting more and more difficult to ignore the the direction the country is taking and the lack of action or concern of its citizens.

While much of this writers claims are factual, the one thing I cannot ascribe to, is that where in the world will you find another country with all that the U.S. has to offer? I know that changes need to be made in some areas, but then, there always are in a democracy where liberty is prized. Do citizens of this country need to wake up and see the truth behind all the rhetoric? Absolutely! But, my friend, this is still the greatest country on the face of the earth and she is well worth fighting for...it's important to remember the principals we were founded on, recognize that God was NEVER far from the founders hearts or thoughts. We must fight for our liberty, not drop our guard or become complacent to the degree that we don't hold government accountable to US, the people. After all, they work for us and maybe they haven't been reminded of that often enough lately. To our Muslim citizens, I say, it's okay that we all live here and worship the way your religion dictates, and as long as you do not try to force it on the rest of us, you will be left alone. It would be a wonderful sign of love and acceptance for the "ordinary" Muslim everyone speaks of to speak out against the violence and hate of those on the fringe who wreak havoc on innocents. Perhaps Muslims should practice the ancient ritual of shunning upon those radical Islamists who put their own brethren in harms way.
No, leaving this country has never been an option. It's the greatest and more than worth fighting for...I wouldn't insult all those who've fought and died by declaring America a "lost cause" now...not when they did so much so that I and mine could live here under liberty and freedom.

I am just finishing up a five month trip up and down the East coast of the US. I have spent an lot of time visiting the historic places and trying to understand what allowed the experiment in trusting the people with self government to come about and survive for these past few centuries. I hoped to gain insight to where we are headed. My basic conclusion is that we're in deep trouble and need good leadership. We have not had it for a long time- probably since Eisenhower's days. Look at what our recent leaders-and I mean the political establishment both local and national as well as our business leaders have caused to happen. They have sold us out by dumming the general population up by removing media ownership, and then feeding us on a debt and fast food created a huge mountain of debt and basically privatized the profits and socialized the losses. It's time to kick all the politicians out and get back to following the Constitution. Wake up U.S. A. The door to survive as a nation is swinging shut-fast as we speak! If we go down as a Country all bets are off on where else to go.

Whatever future the US is facing, I think it's important for people planning to make a significant move such leaving their native culture for a foreign one to do so for primarily positive reasons.

If the main reasons are negative, such as fear or greed, they will have a much harder time being happy in their new surroundings. This is the exile mentality. Exile may sometimes be the lesser evil, but it's not pleasant or healthy.

I'm in the process of moving to the Dominican Republic and among the expats I've met, the ones who enjoy and embrace Dominican life are the one who are happiest. Those who are there just because it's cheaper and warmer than home aren't.

The best attitude is a positive one. I'm moving to a place and culture to which I'm attracted. Without that forward-looking optimism I think moving to another country could be a bitter experience -- unless one is lucky and acquires a taste for the new country.

Excellent editorial. Right on. Many of us leave however for different reasons. I started making plans to leave the day George Bush invaded Iraq. I made the final decision after the '04 election and I no longer could defend the American foreign policy to others and most importantly to myself, when the people reelected Bush ( or elected him for the first time if you believe he stole the first one.)

"Love it or leave it". Right? So I left.

This is a very good article and people should take heed of this information about Muslims. This is not racist it is about religion and theocracy! So one should consider escaping to a country where there are few if any Muslims living. This is South and Central America with the now exception of Venezuela where there are Mosques. However one should note that the collapse of the American finacial system will also spell disaster for most third-world countries that depend on US trade.

I don't think that most Americans who leave the US leave because they're afraid of a terrorist attack. I certainly didn't. I left because I was no longer comfortable in the culture of America and I think there are a lot more ex-patriates from America who left for a much more practical and personal reason(s) than fear of future terrorist attacks.

In addition, I find it quite racist to criticise Muslims for praying in a public place in the US. There may be certain groups of radicals who want to take over or destroy the United States, but these are the exception, not the rule. Most Muslims are peaceful people who simply want to exercise their religion in peace. I also don't find it fair to compare Christians praying and Bible preaching in Iran or Saudi Arabia because you are comparing a supposedly free country with one (or more) countries without freedom of religion. That's something you absolutely cannot compare. There should not be a problem with any religious group meeting and praying in the US, regardless of which group and regardless of where it is as long as it isn't in an official capacity (such and something in connection with the state). So, I would advise the author of the article to either be more tolerant to Muslims and other religious groups, or to see a therapist to work out your own prejudice.

I left in 1990 and never went back - I have PR in Taiwan now but have not gone for citizenship due to visa restrictions and lower status of a RoC passport. Due to my parents disinterest, my avenue to EU citizenship by descent was destroyed.

A US passport is a burden financially; investment avenues are closed when bankers see it.
