I just found a lovely 2bed 2 bath townhouse in Winter Garden FL its a lovely small town 20 mins out side of Orlando, with good restaurants lots of parks and a huge lake. it was only $50.000

In North America, Winter Haven, Florida (about 40 minutes West of Orlando) is worth a look by those seeking a condo in the $75,000 range. Two bedroom, 2 bath overlooking a lake in a gated community with a large poool and tennis courts. Minutes from shopping, brand new library and Disney attractions 30 minutes away. Fly to Pannama in less than 3 hours. Atlantic and Gulf beaches are an hour away. Paradise is closer than you think and at much better prices. Winter Haven, Florida is the place to look now!!!

For my money the best Real Estate buys are in Argentina. The people are very friendly and the government is stable…..and the cost of living is low. Very good medical services.

I wonder if the financing is still the same, or if cash is the only way to go for a long distance deal.

Scratch KL off your list. Currently foreigners are limited to properties that cost RM250,000 or more (about US$73,000). But Jan 1st, 2009 this will double to RM500,000.

There are ways to get around this limit – but few local lawyers know how.

In my opinion, Malaysia is by far the best value in real estate. And Penang offers the sea and prices are only slight higher than KL.

Renting is also an option. Fully furnished units are at a premium – but there are so many empty unfinished units (and they sit empty for years and years). You can strike a long term deal with owners to rent at incredibly cheap rates. A middle class apartment about 1200 SF with pool, gym and other facilities can be had for US$200 per month. But you will have to provide your own kitchen and air conditioners.
