How much is your pension worth in Mexico?

$60,000 Pension In The Usa Is Worth $85,000 In Mexico!

LET’$ DO THE MATH

If you had a $60,000 pension per year to live on and by moving to Mexico it grew to $85,000 in value by just moving to Mexico would you do it? Well there are some very smart Mexican Investors who are betting that between 6 million and 8 million Americans will be doing that very thing over the next 15 years. If the number on the low side is a reality then that is 6,000,000 people with an average budget of USD $ 60,000 per year and that would add up to the tidy sum of $360 Billion US Dollars per year! Yes that is per year!

Many Americans will die from high taxes and high medical bills not to mention having to watch their life long investment in “The American Dream” (real estate), i.e., their homes, turn to worthless toxic paper! That’s right; there are many Americans who will die from ailments brought on by the massive spending, national and personal debt and devaluation of their net worth in exponential increments. Record numbers of Americans are suffering from depression and stress related illnesses like never before and those that are unemployed and have lost their homes to foreclosure are on the brink of disaster beyond any words I care to put in print.

All of that now having been said, the risk of moving to Mexico where so many places are very safe, even more so than the USA, seems like a very reasonable proposition when a $60,000 per year retirement budget in the USA is worth $85,000 per if you move to Mexico and budget your money wisely. So why in the hell would you stay in the USA in the fall of your life?

IT’S JUST BUSINESS

I know that many Americans and Canadians would rather go to the beach and be $25,000 richer just by moving to Mexico…it’s not politics IT’S JUST BUSINESS…YOUR BUSINESS! If you were able to get affordable quality medical care, inexpensive prescriptions, affordable housing plus regain the quality of life the USA Government, Corporate America and the Wall Street greedy money brokers stole from you and tens of millions of hard working Americans, that FYI remain patriotic…but prefer to do so, from the warm and sunny beaches of Mexico, why not move, if it is even for just a few months to try it out?

The real question at hand is why wouldn’t you give it a try before you get too old to appreciate the quality of life you still have the time to enjoy? If you are afraid there is no one you know there, go try it for a few months…and you will more than likely find friendship very fast as there are over 1 million Americans already there and plenty more coming as fast as they can settle their affairs in the USA and move. In addition you will undoubtedly make friends with Mexicans, who are warm loving friendly people. The culture in Mexico is easy to embrace for many reasons primarily because the core values of the culture are based on unity of the family, respect of their elders, religion and national pride.

MEXICAN IMMIGRATION LAWS CHANGED MAY 2011 FOR EASIER RESIDENCY PERMITS

Well with all of the interest in Mexico it is no small wonder that Mexico’s President Filipe Calderon has reformed the Mexican immigration Laws two times in one year the first in May 2010 and then again May 2011, now making it much easier and potentially faster for Americans (and all foreigners) to relocate to Mexico. The drug war will not last forever.

SONORA, MEXICO = SMART MONEY, SMART MOVE

In today’s fragile economic world, being smart with your financial resources is the only option, as there is far too little margin, or in reality NONE AT ALL, for any big mistakes especially regarding your home, health care and living expenses in general.

If the decision to move to Mexico could correct the value of your dollar by up to 40% if you manage your money well , where you could be living in a beach front community with other Americans and Canadians…where the prices are at historical low prices, where the weather is good year round, where inexpensive quality medical care is available, where there is fresh food, where you can bring your own car, boat and motor toys from the USA and not pay import taxes on them and where you could be within a one hour drive to the USA border, then Northwestern Sonora, Mexico just might be the place for you.

Are the financial rewards as well as the rewards of a quality of life enhancement (for moving south of the border), worth risking the perceived and the real dangers being reported in the mainstream media?

In the end only you will be able to answer that question, however this begs another question to also be asked; why aren’t thousands of Americans and Canadians who are living in Mexico moving back to their countries of origin? There is one resounding answer to that question and it is; “the majority of Mexico is very safe in comparison to many cities in the USA”.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT

Whether you choose to believe the main stream media or not, these folks living in Mexico are comfortable with their surroundings, the local Mexican people love their presence as they are bolstering the local economy and in many cases the Americans and Canadians contribute their time to the communities they live in by teaching English in local schools and churches, organizing youth sports programs such as little baseball and basketball teams and list goes on from there.

The meaningful and personal fulfillment factor that these Americans and Canadians seem to be getting from contributing their time and knowledge in to their Mexican communities is an additional benefit they feel enriches their lives…as much as it does for the grateful recipients of their time and generosity.

DON’T FIGHT THE FEELING OR TRAFFIC

A very common feeling that nearly every transplanted American and Canadian will attest to, is the immediate sense of freedom that they all feel immediately after moving away from living in the day to day rat race with its pressures north of the border. After spending just a few months living in Mexico many have come to the realization the pressures and deadlines they have lived with for most of their lives have been pushed on them by in large from our society as a whole. Tragically we have all been programmed to accept the rat race is the normal way to live. However once removed from that element most feel a positive self awareness they have never experienced before that comes over them like a warm soothing gentle wave.

This euphoric feeling knowing they now have time to work on their self improvement and choose the activities that give them pleasure without first having to think ahead about having to fight the traffic, parking, long lines at the bank and grocery store before they even leave the house…to go the gym or the campus to work on that self awareness is a great way to start your day of self awareness for sure.

The absence of these daily hassle’s in many parts of Mexico makes finding the time to do the things of interest you desire to do much more abundant than in most parts of the USA where the rat race vs. pleasure is always determined by the amount of time it takes to get there and then return, therefore greatly limiting the pleasures of life.

TEST THE WATERS BEFORE YOU DIVE IN

Ask yourself and your mate this question; what if we do go to Mexico to spend a couple of weeks at a time over the next 6 months to a year, researching in advance several different locations in several different regions of Mexico based on safety, Americans and Canadians living there full time, check out the cost of owning real estate vs. renting, medical facilities, restaurants, grocery stores and entertainment/soil clubs and organized community events sponsored by foreigners and local Mexicans alike.

For openers you may want to try the Northwestern regions of the State of Sonora and go to Puerto Penasco,”Rocky Point” which is one hour from the USA border or San Carlos 4 hours from the USA. In both places you will easily find fellow Americans and Canadians year round and a very user friendly economy. The highways you will travel on are well maintained and relatively new as they in part have been specifically built to attract the southern migration of Americans and Canadians who prefer to drive their own vehicles to Mexico. There are visible highway patrol officers for security and plenty of good services available along these well traveled routes. If you just try Mexico as a maybe…if the circumstances were just right for you to consider that you just might move there, testing the waters would be the prudent approach to the possibility of a major move overseas even if it is just one hour across the border. While real estate prices are at an all time low in many years in Mexico (and the USA) starting now is not too early remembering Mexico’s economy is closely tied to the USA so buying at the right time in Mexico is right now.

  1. That was an extremely well written article Henry with excellent insight into the reality of the current opportunities to move to Mexico. We have lived in Lake Chapala for almost 16 years and your take on the Mexican people and how warmly they welcome and appreciate us is spot on.

    • Hola Marie,

Thank you for taking the time to read the article…
With all that… has and…has not… been said about Mexico
and particularly as of late…the lack of an accurate representation of Mexico…in the media
regarding security issues is not only unfair in the way the negative content though true but not
not told truthfully in that the media plays it up as if every square kilometer of Mexico is dangerous…..but
we who travel work and live in Mexico know that is just not true…

WHY has the Mexican government been so unsuccessful in combating the bad press…IT IS NOT BECAUSE
THEY ARE NOT TRYING…THEY ARE…and to the tune of USD $100,000, 000… that’s right 100 million dollars in 2011. I have a portion of the solution…truth be told it is not the cure-all…but it is the most powerful message that can be broadcast-ed in print media, on the radio or on T.V.
IT IS THE TRUTH AS TOLD BY AMERICANS AND CANADIANS WHO LIVE TRAVEL WORK AND PLAY IN MEXICO….people just like you Marie… that is who the public will believe…FOR REAL you are not the media the infomercial or the Mexican Government…you are REAL and living in “The Real Mexico” send me your thoughts and I will let your voice be heard…for those folks wanting the TRUTH ABOUT…”The Real Mexico”

      Kindest regards,

  2. A well-organized exposition of the advantages of a retirement relocation to Mexico. But North Americans with a retirement income of $60k are not only fewer in number in today’s struggling economy, they have many more options for a successful relocation within North America itself. This is not the income demographic most in need of an affordable reirement destination. Folks like me with half that figure or less to live on are the people crying out for advice on how to escape the stagflation trap our faltering economy has set for us.

    • response to Anders Blackmun:

I loved this article but all the while reading it knowing I don’t, and won’t, fit this perceived demographic of $60K retirement Income. I second what Mr. Blackmun brings to light — what about the rest of us?? We long for a simpler life, too. The economy bust has severed pension opportunities and some live month-to-month without a retirement pension to anticipate. Now … if only a way to relocate to the simpler life over the border without living in such difficult financial straights as the very citizens who we desire to join and who dream of moving north to better their struggling wages.
