Looking for a good excuse to take a holiday abroad? Next time you go to the dentist and the estimate they hand you for your “treatment plan” is over $4,000, you might want to do what Bob did – take a medical vacation to Panama City, Panama.
Did you know the Republic of Panama is home to Punta Pacifica Hospital, a John Hopkins affiliate, a top medical destination with some of the best doctors in Latin America?
Bob funded the vacation of a lifetime by saving 50% of the cost of his dental bill in the States, by having the work done in Panama City, Panama, in an idyllic vacation setting.
His bill for the root canals and crowns in the states was estimated at over $4,000; all work that had to be done, but none of it urgent. So, he had time to plan an itinerary that, for less money, would pay for a medical vacation; returning home tanned, relaxed, and with stories of his exploits to enthrall his friends.
Best Dentists in Panama
Bob did his research to find the best dentists in Panama on the Traveling4health consumer reporting site; an unbiased, social-media site for contacting dental tourism providers and getting advice from experienced dental tourists.
After reading some articles and talking to members, Bob contacted Ageless Wonders Panama, who helped him save 50% on his dental bill.

One article in particular caught Bob’s eye How Can a Foodie Trip to Panama Pay For Itself? Bob was “hooked”. After all, Bob is the best cook of all his friends, and often entertains. So, now his daily itinerary was going to feed into his love of healthy cooking and enhance his skill as a cook.
Think he had a story to tell his neighbors? Yes, indeed. Of course, Bob texted his friends each evening from the restaurants, reporting a daily journal of his fun as he sat relaxing after a scrumptious meal.
So, let’s get this straight – Bob turned a boring dental bill (we all know how exciting that is), into an exciting vacation abroad. Wow!
Medical Vacation in Panama
Here’s How Bob did it . . .
First he did some preliminary searching on the Internet for airfares and accommodation packages. So, now he had a ball-park figure that he could fine-tune to work within his budget.
He found he could book a round-trip flight from Seattle to Panama, City, Panama (less than $800), and four days and 3 nights at the luxurious Veneto Hotel & Casino ( less than $400), or 8 days and 7 nights ($1,000) at a Wyndham Grand Hotel.
Of course, he didn’t have to vie for 5-star accommodations, 3-4 stars would be fine, but at least he had the price of a place where he knew he would be accommodated with all the bells and whistles including in-house entertainment to amuse himself during any “down-time” as a result of his dental appointments.
After consulting with the dentist, he next blocked out the time he would need for his dental appointments allowing for healing time. The rest of the days he filled up with optional excursions – no set-in-stone schedule, just lots of choices.
He then narrowed down his choice of accommodations and daily excursions by talking to Escapeartist’s Traveling4Health members.
A Happy Medical Tourist in Panama
Bob flew back to Seattle, a happy camper. The whole trip, plus out-of-pocket cash, came to less than the dental bill he was going to have to pay in the States.
He has enough stories and new recipes to entertain his friends for the next year. That’s called turning lemons (a dental bill) into lemonade (a medical vacation).
It pays to show the value of dental surgery overseas!
