The small country of Vanuatu says Good Morning World with the approval of the new Chinese /Singapore funded 350 million dollar airport projected to increase visitor numbers by 900 % to 1 million a year ,that might not seem much to London’s Heathrow and California’s L,A.X But the little island of Efate is just 50 by 50 kilometers has only has just over 40,000 population you can drive around the island in just over a hour if your in a hurry but most all take the time exploring the island ,stopping at magnificent tropical beach s and amazing blue swimming holes and every village has a road stall for fresh fruits like bananas, paw paws, coconuts, avocados and there own french version of the bread sticks no MacDonald of KFC here.

Vanuatu is one of the smallest populations in the World. It’s a Country you probably never heard of. Vanuatu is destined to be, a tourist ‘Mecca’ in the next 5 years. It is geographically located in the South Pacific just north of Fiji, South of the Equator, west of Australia and east of Hawaii. Taking a flight from Australia, to Vanuatu would take approximately two hours.
Recently, a radio program in America interviewed me. During the radio program, the interviewer expressed his opinion, that Australia is a paradise. I responded, “Well Vanuatu is the true paradise. People who live in Australia travel to Vanuatu. They enjoy the freedom of travelling to Vanuatu and enjoying the natural beauty and lifestyle. This is a rare freedom you can no longer find, living in most cities, Worldwide. In Vanuatu, the air is free of pollution, when you breathe in the air, you can actually feel a noticeable difference. The average winter temperature is 22° and an average summer temperature of 28° you will never need a woolen jumper again.” In Vanuatu there are no red lights or speeding cameras.
Vanuatu is made up of 83 Islands in a Y-shaped configuration. There are two main Islands in the group. One has the township called Port Vila and is called Efate and the other is called Espiritu Santo, which is the largest Island in Vanuatu. Some say, it is the most beautiful of the Islands. It’s separated in a chain of several other Islands and to be frank, I find it very hard to put one ahead of the other. They both have amazing attractions. Port Vila is a bustling township, originally colonized by the French and the English who ran the Country before Independence. It was previously know as New Hebrides, jointly governed for 70 years before Independence and handover in 1980. The other Island’s township of Luganville is more laid-back and easy-going. However, both of these South Pacific Islands are about to change immensely.
In February 2012 I wrote a kindle E- book, entitled “How The World Trade Organization Will Change Vanuatu And How, You Can Move To The South Pacific Paradise,” available on Amazon.com. The book covers 11 facts that you should know about Vanuatu, such as, living, moving, banking, education, technology, health, starting a business etc.
On January 1st 2012, Vanuatu’s World Trade Organization was accepted with an official listing in August 2012. Russia officially became the 156th member. International banking circles now officially recognize The Republic of Vanuatu. International banking recognizes that Vanuatu is a Country that they can do business with. If you were investing in any of the other 156 members of The World Trade Organization, we have the same rules and regulations, of a flourishing /offshore banking system/ and although we don’t have all the factories or millions of people that China had when it became a member of the World Trade Organization. Vanuatu will have enormous expansion and change in the next 10 years. It is well known fact in present time, that an emerging Nation is providing a higher ROI to worldly educated investors.
Amazing stories have come from the past from this new country now called, The Republic of Vanuatu, with population of approximately 240,000 people, spread over 83 Islands. The major town, of Port Vila, has a town population of around 35,000 to 40,000 people. The Parliament House is located as well as the main Bank buildings and the main Harbor, where both cruise ships and container ships are regularly in plain sight. There are plans to build since Carnival and P and O International Cruise Liner Companies have now brought the ships down from the Mediterranean and from the Caribbean and offer the international tourist, the opportunity of cruising the South Pacific for the first time. It was only a couple of years ago, Vanuatu was host to a cruise ship, once a week or once a fortnight. The locals believed it to be excellent, as each tourist spends approximately $300 aud for the day whilst they are in Port.
We have had, over 200 cruise ships this year already and plans are underway for more than 400 cruise ships projected per year, to visit Port Vila by 2016, The Island I personally recommend visiting is Espiritu Santo Island. It arguably has, the best beach in the World aptly named Champagne Beach. The current increase in visiting cruise ships and airlines, creates an incredible increase in the tourist holiday market and holiday accommodation for Vanuatu and the international traveler. Marketers tell us and recommend, that we will need between 2,000 and 4,000 hotel rooms to accommodate the influx of tourists to the beautiful haven of Vanuatu. When you consider the average stay in Vanuatu is 10 days, the income stream and room rates between $200-$600 and per night makes a sizable contribution towards Vanuatu’s National Gross Income. In fact, tourism supply is currently 75% of GDP for Vanuatu.
Along with the fabulous 83 Islands to explore, the main centers of port Vila are serviced by an International Airport. Luganville, which is a smaller township than Port Vila., it also has the second International Airport. In Vanuatu, there is an open sky policy with direct international flights. In the near future there will be flight to Vanuatu from Hong Kong, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
There are plans to boost the current flights from New Zealand and Australian. Sydney and Brisbane are serviced by Air Vanuatu which is a code share with Qantas, Emirates, Virgin Pacific Flights, Air Pacific from Fiji. From Australia the flight is, just over two hours from Brisbane. From Hong Kong and Los Angeles, approximate 10.5 hours flight time. At present, Vanuatu is receiving approximately 120,000 visitors arriving by air and as mentioned in our headline the new airport will be open by 2016 we are advised.
Vanuatu is an interesting and pleasant place to visit. The people are extremely friendly and welcoming. They are very religious and on Saturday at one o’clock the town closes, so they can all go to church on Saturday night and Sunday. The business establishments commence business trading on Monday morning. The markets reopen on Monday morning at 7 AM. The Government and the locals frown on drug use and pornography is banned. It is common practice, to respect their Elders and great respect is shown to the Elders. They have a Westminster system Government and Democracy, which has now stood for over 30 years with general elections every three years.
Vanuatu has beautiful landscapes, where you can visit rain forest; see splendid waterfalls and much more. The seascapes are beautiful and underwater diving is a big tourism magnet in Vanuatu. The atmosphere is of simple and traditional lifestyles by the natives in Vanuatu. They offer endless land and water sports such as diving, swimming and fishing. These are daily occurrences for the locals and a fresh food market offers fresh vegetables and tropical fruits. If you have an active lifestyle, there are so many interesting adventure tours you can do! One day sailing trips, rock climbing, hiking and even learning to fish with a bow and arrow. My recommendation is, to visit a live volcano on one of the outer Islands. It is one of only four in the World where you can see the live red lava flow in its’ natural state, boiling at a distance. This is one of the only accessible places in the World to get such a magnificent view for such a site.
What can you do in Vanuatu? I’ve stopped counting, as there are too many to mention here. The strong French influence here in Vanuatu is most visible in the Restaurants where you can visit and experience the delicious food and beverages. French wine is everywhere and the natives are bilingual speaking French, English and their local tongue.
Tourism plays a large and important business and trade factor. By understanding the magnitude of tourist capital Vanuatu, you will understand and grasp the full value of investing in real estate there. Everybody needs a holiday away from the pressures of everyday life, regardless of a Global Financial Crisis. Opening up the Vanuatu Airports to international travel, makes perfect sense and is high on the Government’s agenda. This is a great time to invest and be early with your investment dollars and especially into tourism accommodation.
