Recently, EscapeArtist sat down with Macarena Rose to discuss her upcoming 5th appearance on May 14th on “House Hunters International,” the popular international television show on HGTV.
EscapeArtist: How did you originally get involved in HGTV’s House Hunters International?
Macarena Rose: The House Hunters Production people called me after they saw shows that I did for Belize Television which featured biographies of people in Belize. We shot episodes with exotic birds, a jaguar
EA: What was the most surprising thing about the behind-the-scenes process of participating on “House Hunters International”?
MR: The behind-the-scenes experiences have been so entertaining. One time, the pickup truck I was driving started sliding down a steep, muddy hill. The film crew was riding in the back of the truck, and they just kept on filming.
For another episode, one of the buyers on the show jumped on all of the beds in each house we showed him. This was just him, I guess. It was a hoot arriving to show a home that looked like it had not been cleaned in years. We had to run around making the beds for the filming, so the buyer would have made beds to jump on!
Another fun memory was squeezing into a shower with the clients and the film crew, and I’ll always remember getting to do the Macarena dance on the beach with the crew in the rain… too funny!
EA: Any fun stories you can tell us to preview the upcoming episode on May 14th?
MR: When we were filming this show, we had a bunch of rain we had to keep dodging for filming, well one day some of the roads in Sittee River were so flooded we had to test the waters to see how deep they were. Boy, it was an adventure getting the film crew, the clients and our vehicle through those messy roads!
EA: What is the most rewarding part of your job?
MR: By far the most rewarding part of getting to film with HGTV’s “House Hunters International” is working with the crew! They are always professional, talented and fun to work with!
EA: What is Belize’s best kept secret?
MR: I always say the great mystery of Belize is, “Belize is everything to certain kinds of people, and yet not for everyone.” I just happen to be one of those people who see the beauty of the people, the cultures, the eco-diversity, and I appreciate the intimate, inter-connectedness we experience in Belize.
What were some of the most valuable tidbits you learned from interviewing some of the top experts in international living?
MR: The Preview Summit allowed us to peek into the actual lives of the speakers for the upcoming summit, and it is fascinating to understand how and why these experts were chosen to share their expertise. Seriously, how many folks truly know the steps of what they can easily do to diversify and protect their assets? I am sure you will agree with me, we all need to know how to protect what we have, and how to grow it securely.
I was intrigued to hear from the speakers as to the topics they shall speak on, like offshore financial structures, and why they are for everyone. Also, I’m intrigued to learn more about Bitcoin and how folks are using it.
We shall be learning more on Belize, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico and more!
And I am honored to be speaking about the International Buyers Agency, and the wisdom of having your own real estate expert working with you, for you!
MR: Working with HGTV’s International House Hunters has been a positive experience, as I have been recognized all over the world from doing these shows. I am presuming the fact that my real name is “Macarena” doesn’t hurt either.
EA: Give our readers one fun tip on how they can best scout for international real estate.
MR: My advice as to anything in regards to international real estate is to seek a buyer’s agent for you. It is important to remember when you go to a website, that site is compiled of the real estate salesperson listing that are from the seller. This means they represent the SELLER.
So, if you are in fact the BUYER, it is prudent to have your own representation.
EA: Thank you Macarena for your time!
