Dear EFAM Reader, My name is Ty and I’m the Chief Operating Officer at EscapeArtist. I have a message I want to share with every follower of EscapeArtist. Like you, I followed EscapeArtist for many years. My expatriate experience gave me the chance to study in India and Mexico and live in Trinidad and the US, but it wasn’t until I moved to Ireland that I found EscapeArtist. I read a few articles and learned about being an expat, but honestly, it didn’t mean a whole lot to me since I was already living it. In November 2013, I had the opportunity to attend a conference EscapeArtist co-hosted in Belize and that, I can categorically say, was my “tipping point”. It’s one thing to read the information online, it’s an entirely other experience to be immersed an surrounded by people who are thinking about becoming and living an expat life. That November trip inspired me to do more than I was already doing; to “take my experience to the next level,” as it were. That said, in December 2013, I joined the EscapeArtist team in my current role, and I began to not just learn more about expatriate life from others, but connect people who wanted to do the same but were unsure where to start or what the end would look like; provide people with access to products and services that would help them on their journey; and share my personal other people’s success stories. In short, I started giving back and helping others with their dreams. Now, I came to EscapeArtist with a project of my own already in existence. My project is called YoPro Global (www.yoproglobal.com). It is a social network designed to give young professionals all of the tools and resources they need as they start their career and advance. These are tools and resources I would have liked to have had when I was at that stage of my career, so I wanted to help others find them easier than I was able to. I introduce YoPro to you because when I joined EscapeArtist, Domingo, EscapeArtists’ CEO had the foresight to see how my company, YoPro Global, and EscapeArtist can work together. That vision evolved into a joint venture known as Passion & Purpose, which can be found online at www.exploringmypassion.com. The vision for Passion & Purpose was to provide followers of EscapeArtist a community that they can belong to worldwide. A place where people who are passionate about travel, food and culture, or want to become expats to live a freer life can meet each other and make friends, have fun and be fulfilled. Members of YoPro who are career focused can participate in the community as an outlet to “play” and explore what they’re passionate about, while working towards a purpose. This joint venture just made sense, so we built it for you. While all of this information is worthwhile, here comes the point to my story. Being immersed in a community of would-be and already-are expatriates, gave me the inspiration I needed to take my personal journey to the next level. I joined the team and I began giving back. Now I’d like to give you the same opportunity. Our joint venture, Passion & Purpose, similar to YoPro, is building in-person communities in cities around the world. Members of YoPro and followers of EscapeArtist will be treated to local events and activities hosted by volunteers to encourage networking, information-sharing and learning and shared-experiences. We are going to rally up-and-coming and seasoned professionals, would-be and already-are expats and locals around the passion of adventure, travel, food, culture, living life and advancing individual personal goals, and we want you to lead it. That’s right. This is an invitation for you to join our team as a volunteer Ambassador, and help us build a community in your city and multiple cities around the world. All of the information you need is right here: http://communities.yoproglobal.com These will be joint communities between YoPro and Passion & Purpose and will cater to YoPro and Passion & Purpose members, and EscapeArtist followers. This is your chance to make a difference in your life and in the lives of others around you. If you want to do even more, EscapeArtist has opportunities available to license, partner with, write for or advertise on our Portals, which are country or topic-specific webpages on the EscapeArtist website that provide the much needed information on a specific topic (in the case of a topical portal) or on how to live, work, play, retire or invest in a particular location (in the case of a country portal). Several of our portal partners uses these channels as a fulltime income earner and a means of becoming location independent. If either of these opportunities interest you, the Community Ambassador for Passion & Purpose in cities around the world; or the Topic or Country Portal Partner for EscapeArtist, please contact me at Ty@escapeartist.com. It’s time to take charge and give back. Let us provide the forum for you to do so.
